Monday Uganda 1-4 Tanzania Rwanda 0-3 Ethiopia

After losing 3-0 to Ethiopia on Monday, hosts Rwanda are enthusiastic to bounce back against Uganda when the two sides square off this afternoon at Kigali Stadium.

Ethiopia dominated the game, thanks to poor goalkeeping and shaky defence of the home side. Meselu Abera Tesfamariam, Alemnesh Geremew Asefa and Senaf Wakuma were on target with one goal each to ensure a deserved victory for coach Kebede Selamawit Zeray’s side.

"We lost (to Ethiopia) because we failed to maintain our game plan. We gave them too much space. But that is done now, we can’t let that nightmare determine our result against Uganda on Wednesday, we need to pick ourselves up and mean serious business,” She-Amavubi coach Jean Baptiste Kayiranga told Times Sport on Tuesday.

The loss saw Rwanda drop to fourth position with three points.

"No hope is lost, we are still able to win the tournament if we can win all our remaining games – and it is possible. To achieve it, we have to be tight in  defence and be more efficient in attack,” Kayiranga further added.

Elsewhere on Monday, holders Tanzania humiliated Uganda 4-1 as skipper Asha Saada Rachid recorded the first hat-trick at the week-long regional tournament in Kigali. Donisia Daniel Minja netted the fourth goal for Tanzania while Shadia Nankya scored the consolation for Uganda.

The win took Tanzania to 4 points after 3 games while Uganda remain at the summit with 6 points from as many games.

The five-nation tournament is played on a round robin basis.
