Mukura Victory Sports will be having semi-finals ticket in sight today as they take on Amagaju in the second-leg of Peace Cup quarter-finals at Huye Stadium – kick-off 3:30pm.
Mukura beat Amagaju 1-0 in the first leg encounter last Friday.
Burundian Gael Duhayindavyi was the lone scorer.
Coach Francis Haringingo insisted that his side’s target in the ongoing 2018 Peace Cup tournament is to lift the title as they bid to represent the country in continental football next season - the 2019 CAF Confederation Cup.
The Yellow and Black outfit have not made it to Peace Cup’s last four since 2009 when they lost 1-0 to now-defunct Atraco FC in the final at Amahoro Stadium.
"We have what it takes to advance to the semi-finals on Monday (today), not because we are underrating the opponent but because we are ready and well prepared to play with all we got for a victory – in front of our home fans,” the Burundian-born tactician said on Sunday.
On the other hand, Amagaju head coach Sosthene Habimana warned it won’t be a walk in the park for Mukura today.
"I have spoken with my players and they are inspired to deliver. Losing the first-leg (at home) and playing away in the second-leg doesn’t mean we are out already, anything in football is possible and we will be out fighting to prove it,” the former Rayon Sports coach said.
Elsewhere today, Sunrise face Bugesera at Nyamata grounds with one leg already in the last four following their 2-0 emphatic win in the two sides’ first-leg clash last week.
Meanwhile, left-back Eric Gisa Irambona was the hero of the day on Saturday as Rayon Sports overcame Marines FC 1-0 at Umuganda Stadium. The two league rivals meet Tuesday in their return-leg clash at Kigali Stadium.
The final of the Peace Cup tournament is scheduled for August 8 with winners earning the right to represent the country in the CAF Confederation Cup next year.
