STAR TIMES Basketball League champions Patriots and Rwanda Energy Group (REG) have reached the finals of the 2018 Play-off Games after their respective victories over IPRC- Kigali and APR over the weekend.

Holders Patriots booked ticket to the finals after beating IPRC- Kigali in two consecutive games on Friday and Saturday in the best-of-three semi-final series at Amahoro stadium.

In other semi-finals tie, Patrick Ngwijuruvugo’s REG also overcame APR in two games to set finals date with archrivals Patriots – making it a renewed re-match of the 2017 finals.

Last year, after failed attempts in 2015 and 2016, Patriots ended the two-year playoffs jinx to lift the title, bouncing back from losing Game 1 (82-75) to win the next three Games; 83-77, 64-54 and 56-52 respectively.

In Saturday’s Game 2 win over Albert Buhake’s side, Micheal Makiadi scored a game high for Patriots while skipper Aristide Mugabe added 19 points.

Rwanda international Kami Kabange posted 20 points as REG defeated APR on Saturday while teammate Elie Kaje contributed 17 points.

Game 1 of the best-of-five finals is scheduled for July 20 at Amahoro Stadium.
