The national women sitting volleyball team will play Canada today in the 2018 Sitting Volleyball World Championships Group A opener .

The world’s biggest sitting volleyball tournament starts today and will run through July 22 in the Netherlands.

In an interview with Sunday Sport from Netherlands yesterday, head coach Jean Marie Nsengiyumva said he anticipates stiff competition but stressed that the main target is to "advance from the group stage.”

"Canada is a good team but we are not an easy team either, we are in the World Championships because we worked hard and deserve to be there. We will give it our best to start the campaign on a high,” said Nsegiyumva,

"Our major target is to reach the quarter-finals, ” he added.

Arnhem hosts the women’s preliminary round matches before heading to Rotterdam for the quarterfinals, semifinals and finals from July 19 to 21.

After Canada, the team will take on hosts Netherlands on Monday before wrapping up the group campaign against Croatia on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Rwanda face the hosts in men’s category today ahead of Monday’s clash against the United States and China on Tuesday respectively.

The men’s preliminary round matches will take place in Venlo and Eindhoven before the semifinals and finals take place in The Hague on July 21 and 22.
