After a disappointing 2017/2018 Azam Rwanda Premier League campaign, Police FC have hit the transfer market early in bid to reinforce their squad ahead of the new season.

After the official opening of the transfer window on Thursday, it is reported that Police FC have closed in on signing a number of renowned players including former Rayon Sports goalkeeper Eric Ndayishimiyiye who was released by the Blues last month.

Besides the veteran goalie, it is reported the club is also in advanced talks with strikers; Jean Paul Uwimbabazi and Kevin Hakizimana, central defender Latif Bishira and right-back Omar Serumogo.

Forward Uwimbabazi scored seven goals for Kirehe last season, including four in his last seven games. The forward netted 26 times for the Kirehe district-sponsored side two years ago when they earned promotion to the topflight league.

AS Kigali star defender Bishira is also being courted by APR and Rayon Sports.

Asked to verify the reports, Police head coach Albert Joel Mphande refused to disclose names to Sunday Sport but admitted the law enforcers are in talks with a number of players and should be able to announce the outcomes in the near future.

The 2016 Peace Cup winners have also been linked with Etincelles skipper Ismael Gikamba, Marines striker Arafat Bahame and Sunrise full-back Gaad ‘Evra’ Niyonshuti.

Mphande’s side finished in sixth position with 48 points in the 2017-18 league, 18 points adrift of champions APR – whom they face in Peace Cup quarter-finals next week.
