Rayon Sports midfielder Shassir Nahimana and former goalkeeper Eric Ndayishimiye are reported to be in talks with Kiyovu SC ahead of the 2018/2019 Azam Rwanda Premier League.

While former Rayon Sports skipper Ndayishimiye is free to sign for any side after his unceremonious sacking last month, want-away Burundi international Nahimana still has a month left on his contract with the Blues.

According a source that preferred to remain anonymous, Kiyovu SC have been following Nahimana for a while and are ready to do ‘all that is possible’ to secure his signature, to replace skipper Fabrice Kakule Mugheni who is expected to join Tanzania’s Simba SC this month.

On the other hand, Kiyovu SC president, Jean Pierre Kayumba, neither confirmed the talks nor refuted the speculations of Nahimana’s possible move to the Nyamirambo-based side.

"Shassir (Nahimana) is a complete midfielder that anyone who love to have, not just Kiyovu. However, he still has a contract to honor at Rayon Sports and we respect that.

After finishing fifth, with 49 points, in the recently concluded 2017-18 regular season, former league champions – Kiyovu SC – and their celebrated head coach Andre Casa Mbungo have already started planning for life after the departure of the club’s top-scorer Francis Mustafa who crossed to Kenyan champions Gor Mahia last week on free transfer.

Nahimana, 23, joined Rayon Sports in August 2016 and was pivotal in the club’s campaign to their eighth league title in the 2016/2017 season but has since struggled with form and off field problems that have kept him out the starting line-up for a good portion of the 2017/2018 season.
