AMAVUBI U-20 team players have been promised hefty bonuses if they manage to qualify for next year’s Fifa World Youth Championships which will be held in Cairo, Egypt.

This was revealed by Sports and Culture Minister Joseph Habineza, who, in an interview with Times Sport yesterday said that the U-20 team will receive bonuses (still confidential) for every game won in their group stage campaign.

"We will definitely give them bonuses for every game won as well as if we qualify for the Fifa World Cup finals, however, that only (bonuses) should not be the real cause to perform well,” confirmed the Minister.

He however, noted, "We want to abolish this culture of staking cash prizes for the national team. These are young players who should not be lured with money.”

Although the Minister remained tightlipped on the exact amount each player will receive for each win or qualifying for the World Cup, the figures would probably not exceed that staked for the senior Amavubi Stars during their 2010 World/Africa qualifiers.

Each Amavubi Stars team member received winning bonuses in range of between $1000 and $1500.
