Presenter of the year 2008.  This is a great achievement indeed. What were your initial feelings when you heard this?
I was completely surprised. I was not listening to Flash FM at the time, but colleagues called to congratulate me. I know that I have good presentation skills but I could not believe that I could top the list.

What do you attribute to your success?
I have good communication skills and before I go for my show, I take time to prepare. It takes a lot of research to find the right script and ensure that my show is as entertaining as it is supposed to be.

How long have you been on radio and what kind of music do you play?
I have worked as a presenter since 2005. I play a blend of both local and international music but I make an effort to promote Rwandan music.

Do you think Rwanda’s radio stations have developed?

Not yet. Most of the radio stations still fail to pay their employees and as such, qualified presenters end up opting for better paying jobs. Stations take up anyone who is willing to present. This does not promote professionalism since many of the unqualified presenters that are taken up, lack communication skills.

Who are some of your professional mentors?

Larry London of Voice of America qualifies as one of the best simply because he exhibits a lot of talent while presenting his early morning show. I have also learnt quite a lot from him.

What is your advice to upcoming radio presenters?

Upcoming presenters should know that in this business we communicate to over eight million people so it is always important to think before anything is said. It is also vital to remember that the audience consists of people of all ages thus unrated language should be avoided at all times.

Where do you see yourself in five years time?

Owning a radio station and giving the public the best radio programmes by the best presenters.
