Everything is place as the nation hosts the International Cricket Council T20 Africa ‘B’ qualifiers at Gahanga Cricket Oval, Rwanda Cricket Association has insisted.

The qualifiers tournament kicks-off on Saturday (tomorrow) and is set to run through July 14 at Kicukiro-based Gahanga Cricket Stadium.

It will be a four-country contest between the hosts, Uganda Tanzania and Kenya.

After a round-robin format competition, in which each team will face the three remaining opponents twice, the best two teams will progress to the second round set for later this year.

Uganda Cranes Cricket were the first team to arrive in the country on Thursday afternoon, at 3pm, followed by their Kenyan counterparts one hour after. The Tanzania were expected to land at Kigali International Airport later in the day.

According to Rwanda Cricket Association’s (RCA) General Manager, Emmanuel Byiringiro, the official opening ceremony of the week-long tournament takes place this afternoon at Gahanga Oval followed by captains photo-shoot and team presentation.

This is the first ICC sanctioned tournament to be hosted at Gahanga, almost nine months after the inauguration of the facility last October.
