The National Men’s Golf Team has intensified preparations at Kigali Golf Club ahead of the 2018 East Africa Golf Challenge.

The 20th edition of the annual East African Golf Challenge is scheduled for August 1-6 at Nyali Golf and Country Club in Mombasa, Kenya.

In an interview with Times Sport on Thursday, Jules Mutesa Dusabe, the team’s head coach, revealed that the team trains five days in a week from Monday to Friday.

"Preparations started on June 30, the team is in good shape and training well. Out of 15 golfers who are training, we have to pick the best eight by end next week to make the final roaster to Mombasa,” Dusabe said.

The tactician also disclosed that the team will be traveling to Mombasa on July 27.

"Our main goal is to finish first or second this year,” upbeat Dusabe emphasized.

Last year, Rwanda finished fourth with 5.5 points falling behind the then defending champions Uganda (7 points) in third place.

The hosts Tanzania won the title with 8.5 points while Kenya (8 points) snatched a second position at the Par-18 Gymkhana Golf course in Dar es Salaam.
