Intare      Vs     AS Muhanga

The newly promoted (to topflight league) sides Intare and AS Muhanga lock horns this afternoon at Amahoro Stadium to determine the 2018 champions of the second division football league.

Intare FC made it to the final after edging out Pepiniere in semi-finals while archrivals AS Muhanga brushed aside Sorwathe in the last four to reach the final.

By reaching the final of the 2018 second division league, both sides automatically booked promotion tickets to Azam Rwanda Premier League for the 2018/2019 season.

Speaking to Times Sport on Tuesday, AS Muhanga head coach Abdu Mbarushimana disclosed that they are going into the final determined to lift the title.

"It’s the final and we are ready for it, we have had enough preparations and the morale is high among the players. The target is to lift the trophy,” Mbarushimana warned.

In a separate interview, his Intare FC counterpart Emmanuel Rubona said, "We achieved the first step, which was earning promotion to topflight league, and now our target is to be champions. It is surely going to be a tough call but it won’t be something that we can’t overcome.”

AS Muhanga return to topflight league for a second spell after the club’s relegation in 2016 while Intare are set to play their first season in the first division football in 17 years following their relegation in 2002.

AS Muhanga and Intare FC will replace Miroplast and Gicumbi who were relegated at the end of the just concluded 2017/2018 regular season.
