Rwanda international Jean Claude Uwizeye has won his second race with French side Pays Olonne Cycliste Côte de Lumière (POCCL) since joining the club in April this year along with compatriot Valens Ndayisenga.

The 24-year old displayed an impressive solo effort to claim the 51st edition of Manche-Océan race, 29 seconds ahead of his closest contender Mael Boivin who rides for VC Pays de Loudeac.

The one-day race covered a total 154 kilometres.

Uwizeye was the fastest rider after he clocked 3 hours and 39 minutes.

Ben Carman from Henneront Cyclisme finished third after crossing the finish-line 34 seconds behind the winner, while Willy Perrocheau (3:39:38) from A.PO.GE Cycliste settled for a fourth place, using the same time as VC Pays de Loudeac’s Cyrille Patoux who completed top five.

This is the second victory for sensational Uwizeye in France, in less than two months, after his maiden race win at this year’s Grand Prix de Cuillé in May.

Uwizeye and Ndayisenga joined the French club in April after competing at this year’s UCI African Continental Road Championships in Kigali, in February, and the XXI Commonwealth Games staged in April, in Gold Coast, Queensland – Australia.

Both riders signed a one-year contract with the French side and are expected to lead the club at this year’s Tour du Rwanda come August.
