Iradukunda, Bashabe for Washington DC festival

       Iradukunda                                   Bashabe

Reigning Miss Rwanda Liliane Iradukunda and local socialite Kate Bashabe are said to be getting ready to fly to Washington, DC for ‘The Ugandan Festival’.

Snoops tell us that the two were invited to the US capital by Ugandans in the area.

We are told that Iradukunda was invited as a guest while Bashabe will showcase her clothing line.

Organised by the Ugandan Diaspora community under the Ugandans in North America Association (UNAA), the festival is expected to run from August 30 to September 3, and other celebrities in the region will make an appearance.

We are told artistes like Rudeboy (Paul Okoye of Nigerian duo P-Square), Geosteady, Lydia Jasmine, Fille Mutoni, David Lutalo, Isaiah Katumwa, Chris Evans, and others, will perform.

This is just one of the many events Iradukunda has been invited to attend. It is confirmed that she will grace this year’s Miss World pageant to be held in China in December.

I’m ready — Sheebah Karungi speaks about battle with Cindy

       Sheebah                                           Cindy

What is it with Ugandan artistes and wanting to prove who the best is? This is the situation; singer Cindy Sanyu is regarded by many as the best stage performer in Uganda, while Sheebah Karungi is referred to as the best female artiste Uganda has had in a while.

Word reaching us is that the artistes are set to ‘bring the city down’ in a highly anticipated music battle.

Karungi alias ‘Karma Queen’ agreed to battle Cindy ‘anytime in case she wants to’.

She said, "I respect Cindy very much and she knows it.  And for me to battle her, it will be out of respect. Cindy is my girl, if she wants it, she can call me.”

Cindy also confirmed that she was ready to take on Sheebah to prove she is queen of the game.

It should be noted that in February this year, there were reports that Chameleone was set to battle his nemesis (or frenemy if you will) Bebe Cool, but it never yielded fruits. It is alleged that Bebe Cool chickened out.

Zari as judge at Miss Uganda pageant sparks controversy

              Zari

South Africa-based Ugandan socialite Zari Hassan was announced as one of the judges and patrons for the 2018 Miss Uganda pageant.  She will also be a guest speaker at a CSR (corporate social responsibility) activity targeted for young girls organised by the Miss Uganda Foundation, a move that did not go down well with some people, citing that the socialite is not fit to be a role model to girls.

According to Brenda Nanyonjo, CEO of the Miss Uganda Foundation, Zari was chosen as one of the judges because she is the epitome of "beauty and brains”. "Zari is the perfect example of our motto at Miss Uganda which is beauty with a purpose! She is not only a beautiful woman but she has managed to achieve so much in her career as a businesswoman while raising five children. We believe she will be an excellent judge for the pageant,” she said.

Talent Africa’s CEO Aly Allibhai also noted that, "We are really excited to have Zari as a part of our team for the Miss Uganda Pageant. She is a strong independent woman who is an inspiration and role model to young women in Uganda. The things she has achieved are phenomenal, she has been though many hardships but she always found a way to bounce back. She keeps developing and building her personal brand and is one of Uganda’s most celebrated personalities.”

However, not everyone was pleased with the idea of the socialite being referred to as ‘influential’, with many suggesting ‘better’ role models.

The socialite has faced hostility and praise in equal measure regarding past relationships, including her recent failed one with Tanzanian superstar Diamond Platnumz, the father of two of her children.
