Students of Groupe Scolaire Muramba were the beneficiaries of MTN’s "21 days of Yello Care”, an annual drive where the Telcom operator gives back to the community.

The school, located in Rwamagana district received a massive water tank with a capacity of 10,000 litres.

With the tank in place, the school will have a more reliable supply of water, boosting sanitation and hygiene amongst the students.

Pilate Ntagarwa, the headmaster of GS Murama, thanked MTN Rwanda for providing the tank saying that the facility ease access to water.

Obed Iranzi, a senior three student, said that they lost valuable time whenever there was a water shortage as they had to walk long distances to fetch water.

The school has more than 1,800 students.

According to Viateur Ngenzi, a senior manager at MTN Rwanda, the ‘21 Days of Yello Care drive gives the company the opportunity to contribute towards improving the welfare of their clients and communities.

This year MTN Rwanda earmarked RWf 50 million towards the initiative. The money will be spent on promoting ICT in rural areas as well as easing access to water.

As part of the ICT support, youth have received computer skills and five districts have been given computers.

The ‘21 days of Yello Care’ started June 1, 2018.
