The race to remember, which sets off from Kigali at Gitikinyoni heading to Nyanza in the Southern Province, is organised every year to commemorate the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

The main category, elite men & U23, will start from Gitikinyoni to Nyanza town before doing one lap around Nyanza town, covering a total distance of 130.3 kilometers.

The lap itinerary in Nyanza will start from Nyanza market via Igihozo School, Dayenu hotel to ILPD then to the Kings Palace and then to the new Nyanza District office via the former district offices and back to Nyanza market.

Fresh from winning the 2018 edition of Tour du Cameroun, Club Benediction’s Bonaventure Uwizeyimana will be seeking to continue his impressive form in this race. He also won Farmers’ Circuit last month, the second race of this year’s 11-race Rwanda Cycling Cup.

Uwizeyimana won the 120-kilometre race from Kayonza to Muhanga after clocking 3 hours, 13 minutes and 54 seconds, beating Nyahibu Cycling Club’s veteran Gasore Hategeka who crossed the finish-line 24 seconds behind.
