Meddy and The Ben

Released on Youtube two days ago, ‘Lose Control’ is not the first musical collaboration between Meddy and The Ben, arguably the country’s most gifted R&B musicians.

But it could be the biggest so far, going by the number of views and the reactions from their fans from different parts of the world.

By press time, just a day after the song’s lyric video was uploaded on Youtube, it had garnered more than 20,000 views.

‘Lose Control’ is a smooth lover’s anthem that was recorded at Monster Records studio in Kigali.

"There goes my baby …my baby, there’s no other like my baby, So let me talk to you before bedtime, let me whisper something sweet, I’m better, I’m better when I’m close to you,” goes the song’s opening lines.

The song comes in the same mould as ‘Slowly’, Meddy’s other recent single – in that it commands an international appeal, having been sung in English, with just a few Kinyarwanda ad libs.

‘Lose Control’ is a celebration of beauty and love, a theme that is dominant in the music of Meddy and The Ben. The two drive their message home with such lines of endearment as; "I’m better when I’m close to you”, "You’re too fine, you’re too hot”, and "you make me lose control”.

Commenting about the song, Meddy described it as "a gift to our beloved fans”.

"They have supported us from day one, this was literally the most anticipated song in years and I’m glad we gave them what they needed. This is a big song that every nation can feel connected to. We definitely think that it will take us places.”

The song climaxes into a jubilatory mood towards the end, with beautiful choral harmonies that give it a distinct Afro-feel.

Shortly after the lyric video was uploaded, fans of the two musicians took to Youtube to praise them for the song, with many demanding for a video clip.
