Azam Rwanda Premier League side Bugesera FC have named Jimmy Ndizeye as their new coach for their rest of the 2017/2018 season.

The development was confirmed yesterday by Sam Karenzi, the club’s secretary-general.

The Burundian-born tactician replaces Thierry Hitimana who left the club last month following a run of poor results.

Ndizeye becomes the fifth coach Bugesera have had this season, the most in a single season by any domestic league side in the last 24 years.

"We are happy to welcome Ndizeye as our new coach, he will be in charge for the remainder of the season,” Karenzi told Times Sport on Tuesday. "At the end of the season, the club administration will discuss whether to retain him or look for another coach.”

Ndizeye is known for his pragmatic approach to the game. Last year, he guided Espoir FC to the Peace Cup final which they lost to APR.

The soft spoken coach was due to conduct his first training session with Bugesera FC on Tuesday afternoon and his first match as the head coach of the Bugesera-based outfit will be against Sunrise in the first-leg of Peace Cup quarterfinals next week.

Prior to hiring Hitimana, Bugesera had already sacked Gilbert Yaoundé Kanyankore, Ali Bizimungu and Maurice ‘Maso’ Nshimiyimana.

With six match rounds to the end of the season, Bugesera are in eighth position with 28 points, 22 points adrift of leaders APR and 11 points ahead of sixteenth-placed Miroplast at the bottom.
