RRA 3-1 APR

Five-time reigning champions Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) volleyball team overcame rivals APR in four sets (3-1) to edge closer to a record-extending sixth league title since 2013.

The tax collectors got off to a slow start, which they lost 21-25 to Alexis Nkuranga’s military side.

However, the champions turned tables up to easily take the second set 25-14 and the third set 25-21 before sealing the victory with a tightly contested 31-29 fourth set.

Dorcas Ndasaba’s side have not been challenged to the league title since dethroning APR in 2013. Will APR bounce back to win Game 2 on June 16 and go on to win their first championship in six years, time will tell.

In Game 1 of the third place playoffs, debutants Kigali Volleyball Club (KVC) walloped Ruhango is straight sets; 25-23, 25-21 and 25-20 respectively.

In the meantime, the Play-off Games finals will take a two-week hiatus to make way for the 2019 volleyball Genocide Memorial Tournament – slated for June 9-10across five venues in Kigali.
