It’s that time again -- the Europe Street Fair is back! The event will be held from 2pm on June 9, at Kigali Car Free Zone, in downtown.

The extravaganza is organised by a delegation of the European Union and EU embassies in Kigali, as part of the annual Europe Day celebrations.

All activities are free! The event will be headlined by renowned artistes Bruce Melodie and boy group Dream Boys of Platini Nemeye and Claude Mujyanama.

Other expected performers at the street fair include rapper Jay Polly, Weya Viatora, and Angel Mutoni, who will be joined by Nyundo All Stars and Green Ferry bands.

Flora Kayitesi, the Press and Information Officer at the European Union in Rwanda, said this is a continuity of the Europe Day previously celebrated in Kigali.

"There is a very significant partnership between EU and the Government of Rwanda. It is, therefore, an opportunity for the Rwandan public to interact with members of European Union and learn more about what the EU actually does in Rwanda,” she told The New Times in a phone interview.

The Street Fair will also feature EU presentations alongside other lifestyle activities including Art Exhibitions, jam sessions, kids’ activities and road show tracks. There will also be exhibitions, and you can expect to see vendors, who sell a unique variety of locally made arts and crafts. Food and drinks will also be available.

Kayitesi noted that: "This is a very important celebratory day as we want to celebrate with the community. So everybody is welcome, people can bring their kids and we enjoy the day in style.”

Last year’s edition was headlined by rapper Riderman, alongside Buravan, and Charly na Nina.
