Gospel singer Aline Gahongayire is undertaking a charity drive that will see her put a smile on the faces of many needy women and children in the country.

On May 27, the ‘Awesome God’ songstress kicked off her ‘Ineza’ tour that will see her perform in different parts of the country.

The tour aims to support ‘Ineza’ Initiative, the singer’s charity organisation, which supports disadvantaged women and children by providing them with health insurance, empowering them economically, paying them school fees, among other things.

Her tour started at Eglise Vivante in Kabuga, Kigali, before a fully packed house of gospel music lovers and well-wishers. The evening also featured performances from gospel artistes Serge Iyamuremye, Billy Jakes and Eddie Mico, who came over to support their colleague’s cause.

"This is the kind of experience that I want to give to my fans and I will be bringing different gospel artistes for the rest of the tour,” she said.

On Sunday, Gahongayire collected over one million Rwanda francs in support of the initiative.

The tour will continue in other parts of the country, with the next leg being Nyamata, Eastern Province on June 17, before Kayonza, Karongi, Musanze, Rubavu, Huye, Byumba and Rusizi.

Ineza tour is backed by New Woman Ministries and Moriah Entertainment Group, a gospel events and artistes management firm.

The singer and TV host, who produces a cocktail of a rich mix of traditional and contemporary gospel music, launched her career in 2008 with her debut album entitled, ‘Nzahora Mbyibuka’ – loosely translated to mean "I will always remember” – and has since released five more albums namely; ‘New Woman’, ‘Nzahora Mbyibuka’, ‘Ukiza Ariho’ and ‘Amen’.
