Rayon Sports coach Ivan Minneart has challenged his team to win all their remaining 10 matches if they are to retain the Azam Rwanda Premier League title.

The defending champions host Miroplast FC today at Kigali Stadium.

The Belgian tactician has admitted that Rayon Sports have been too inconsistent in the last two months, but a better mental approach will boost the Blues’ chances of returning to the top.

After 20 games played this season, Rayon are in fourth place with 37 points, 13 adrift of leaders APR. However, the military side have played four games more. AS Kigali are second with 48 points from 23 games while third-placed SC Kiyovu have 41 points, also from 23 games.

While talking to Sunday Sport yesterday, Minneart said he was confident his men can reclaim the league title but that will depend on the blues’ current form and the teams involved in the title race.

"I have spoken with my players, about our current position as defending champions and what it will take to retain it. We have been too inconsistent this season, and we have paid the price.” the former Mukura coach regretted.

He further noted that, "It’s sad that we didn’t lose points in the duels against our competitors, we lost points against underrated teams. To catch up with the teams ahead, we need to start preparing for all our remaining games in the same manner, and treat each as a title decider for us.”

When asked about his side’s preparedness to face Miroplast today, Minneart revealed that Rayon will be without forward Shaban ‘Tchabalala’ Hussein but everyone else is fit.

A win against Miroplast, will see Rayon take their tally to 40 points with four games in hand against Amagaju, AS Kigali, Police and Musanze.
