Second division football league sides Sorwathe FC and United Stars square-off in the first-leg of quarter-finals this afternoon, as both hopefuls vie for promotion to topflight division league.

The game kicks-off at 2:30pm, at Kabagari playground in Ruhango district.

Rulindo-based Sorwathe progressed to the knock-out stages after finishing top of Group A with 51 points, while United Stars (35points) advanced to quarter-finals after finishing 4th in Group B.

Sorwathe head coach Comrade Banamwana has warned United Stars that his side is hungry for topflight league after several attempts and, won’t be taking any chances in today’s clash.

"All players are fit and ready for the United Stars clash. We are going to fight for a victory with all that we got. It’s an away game, we have to take it very seriously and make no mistake to underestimate the opponent.” The former Bugesera FC coach told Sunday Sport on Saturday.

In other quarter-final matches today, Group A leaders take on Unity FC, Group A first runners-up Pepiniere entertain second runners-up of Group B Vision Jeunesse Nouvelle while Group B first runners-up will be up against Group A second runners-up Rwamagana City.

After today’s first-leg round, the eight teams will lock horns in return-leg fixtures on June 3 to determine the four teams to advance to the last four.
