Thirty basketball coaches from different clubs are attending a Level II technical course at Amahoro stadium.
Organised by Rwanda Basketball Federation (FERWABA), in partnership with Olympic Solidarity, the week-log coaching clinic started Sunday and will run through May 11.
The course has attracted a total of thirty coaches including three female coaches.
Present at the official opening of the training yesterday was Amb. Valens Munyabagisha, the president of Rwanda National Olympic and Sports and Committee (RNOSC), who urged participants to take it seriously and get the best out of it.
"We need more qualified coaches if we are to develop basketball in the country. There is no way we will be able to compete with other countries across the continent if we do not have trained coaches,” Munyabagisha told the coaches.
Facilitated by an assigned FIBA expert Dr Mohamed Habib Cherif, from Tunisia, the course will see the level II coaches equipped with new skills and knowledge in the latest trends of the game.
Trainees
Jean Claude Karemera, Egide Bimenyimana, Didier Bineza, Jean Claude Muhirwa Rukundo, Haruna Mvuyekure, Habib Juma Sibomana, Jean Aimé Rukiramacumu, Emmanuel Nshimiyimana, Joseline Munyaneza, Fiston Shema, Aboubakar Barame, Gilbert Birori, Eric Dushiminana and Yves Murenzi.
Others include; Maxime Mwiseneza, Aime Karim Nkusi, Jean Claude Nshimiyimana, Thaddé Mutemberezi, Yvette Uwanjye, Emmanuel Uwintoni, Olivier Kadamage, Charles Mbazumutima, Patrick Habiyambere, Claudette Habimana, Patrick Ngwijuruvugo, Louis Mugunga, Eric Muhoza, Igor Keys Mugisha, Bienvenu Ngandu and Abiddanny Bisanukuri.
