APR midfielder Djihad Bizimana has passed trials with Belgian first division side Waasland-Beveren, Times Sport can confirm.

The 21-year-old left the country for Belgium a fortnight ago where he has been undergoing trials and is said to have impressed the club’s technical staff. The attacking midfielder also passed a medical test this week.

An official from APR, who preferred to remain anonymous because he is not authorised to speak on behalf of the club, confirmed Bizimana had passed trials and that the next step is to hold discussions with Waasland-Beveren to finalise the transfer. The Rwanda international still has a year to his contract.

"We have unofficial news that he has passed his trials but Bizimana is not a free agent, he’s still contracted to APR. For him to complete the move, there must be an official communication between the Belgian side and APR. Right now we are waiting to hear from Waasland-Beveren then talks for the transfer will begin,” the APR official said.

Bizimana started his career with Etincelles before joining Rayon Sports where he played two seasons and later joined APR in 2015.

Waasland-Beveren is in 12th place with 35 points in the Belgian first division league.
