Gisagara go top as title race hots up

National volleyball league defending champions Gisagara Volleyball Club defeated University of Kibungo (UNIK) and Kigali Volleyball Club (KVC) on Saturday to top of the league standings. 

Gisagara beat KVC and UNIK 3-2 and 3-2 to extend their points to 32 and to go top of the table, ahead of University of Tourism Technology and Business Studies (UTB) who lost 3-0 to Rwanda Energy Group (REG) 3-0 and beat APR 3-2.

The results mean UTB dropped to second place with 31 points, while Rwanda Energy Group are in third place with 30 points after overcoming APR 3-0 and UTB 3-0.

In the other matches played on Saturday, Kirehe beat IPRC-East 3-0, while IPRC-East overcame IPRC-South 3-2, with IPRC-South also losing 3-0 to Kirehe.

In the women category, Rwanda Revenue Authority beat IPRC- Kigali 3-1 and KVC 3-0, while St Aloys beat Kigali Volleyball Club 3-2.
