Rayon Sports have dropped left back Eric Irambona for the second leg of the Confederation Cup Playoffs against Costa do Sol after he went missing from the team’s hotel on Sunday evening shortly before the Blues left for Mozambique.

Irambona told Times Sport that he went home to drop some of his training kit but when he returned, a club official who he refused to name told him he would not travel with the team for breaking club rules by leaving the team hotel without permission.

"I left the hotel to drop my training kit because they were dirty and the hotel is near where I stay. It was a terrible mistake and I take full responsibility. I want to apologise to the coaching staff, teammates and club administrators,” Iradukunda said.

Rayon Sports left for Mozambique on Monday morning aboard an Ethiopian Airlines flight and were expected to arrive in Maputo last evening.

Iradukunda and Eric Rutanga are the only players who can play on the left side of defence for Rayon Sports and coach Ivan Minneart will be hoping that Rutanga stays injury free.

The Blues cruised in the first leg thanks to a 3-0 thumping of the visitors but captain Eric Ndayishimiye has warned his teammates against complacency.
