Healthcare provider, Apollo Hospitals, is set to launch a camp in Rwanda where renowned doctors in brain surgery will train locals and start a new partnership within the country.
Christian Abijuru, the organiser of the tour on behalf of the Indian hospital, says the doctors will arrive in Rwanda on Friday April 20 for a two-day camp at La Confiance Clinic in Kimironko.
Speaking to The New Times, Dr Sunil Kutty, a brain and spine surgeon from Navi Mumbai branch, says that Rwandans will now have access to world class surgery and treatment.
Patients with neuro symptoms like weakness in limbs, imbalance, memory deficit, loss of control of urine and bowel or vision loss or double vision, hearing loss will have access to treatment.
Spasm of one side of the face also calls for a neurosurgery specialist.
He adds that they treat nagging back pain or pain in the neck as they are accompanied by weakness of limbs or loss of bowel and urinary control.
Rwandan patients will be able to meet the doctors and get tested during the camp, and Rwandan medics will acquire more knowledge from the specialists.
Dr Kutty says that more success stories are being told around Africa from patients who were healed from a brain tumour.
"Treating this tumour requires precision, there is need to provide relief and not just for the current situation, but for long term reasons too, to protect visual function and limit complications,” he added.
