I am perturbed by Africa’s predicament and the low technological capacity to predict and avert catastrophes, and our unprepared ness to handle consequences of calamities such as floods when they strike.

A lot has been said about the situation in the northern and eastern parts of the country concerning the devastating floods but not much has been put in place to establish the causes of these floods and their possibility to spread to other parts of the country and beyond.

We forget that the change in climate has been caused by ourselves and we shall all face the consequences if no corrective measures to stop environmental degradation are put in place and effected without reservation.
