RWANDA Basketball Federation (Ferwaba) has appointed Maxime Mwiseneza as interim head coach for the senior men’s national basketball team.

Ferwaba’s secretary-general Richard Mutabazi confirmed the development to Times Sport yesterday.

Aime Karim Nkusi was named assistant coach.

The appointments come a month after former head coach Moise Mutokambali was relieved of his duties after a string of poor results in regional and international competitions.

Mutabazi told Times Sport that Ferwaba has trust and confidence in the two young coaches and will give them all the support necessary to succeed.

"We trust the two coaches to do a great job. They are not new in the national team, they have previously served as assistant coaches,” Mutabazi emphasized. Mwiseneza and Nkusi, who coach Espoir and APR, respectively, will take charge of the national team through the 2019 World Cup Qualifiers that run from June 29 – July 1 in Nigeria.
