AS Kigali has suspended midfielder Ally Niyonzima for undisclosed period of time for "indiscipline,” Times Sport has learned.

According to AS Kigali team manager Joseph Nshimiye, the 24 year-old was not only suspended but also fined a month’s wages.

"I will not go into the details but it is a case of indiscipline,” Nshimiye said coyly.

"We are still investigating the matter and he will be back once we sort out everything,” he added.

Efforts by Saturday Sport to reach Niyonzima, who is in Burundi were futile as he could not answer his known mobile phone number.

However, a source within the club who spoke on condition of anonymity, says the disciplinary measure is linked to a bust up between the player and his coach, Eric Nshimiyimana during a training session last week.

It is not the first time that Niyonzima has been sanctioned for indiscipline case, in 2016, Niyonzima was punished by his former club Mukura for disappearing from the team camp without permission.

Niyonzima joined AS Kigali from Mukura this season on a two-year deal as a free agent, something that saw him pocket Rwf18million as a signing on fee and is reported to be earning Rwf500.000 salary a month.
