Sitting V-ball: National women’s team start preps for Word Championships

The National Women sitting volleyball team has started training ahead of the World championships that will take place in Netherlands from 15-22 July.

Rwanda qualified for the World Championships after winning the ParaVolley Africa Champions last year. The team has been training once a week at the national Paralympics Gymnasium (NPC).

Jean Marie Nsengiyumva, the head coach of the national women sitting volleyball team, yesterday named a provisional squad that will train every Saturday until June when the team enters residential camp.

"We have named 15 players who will train once a week until June when I will trim the squad to 12 players before they enter residential camp,” Nsengiyumva said.

"Our target is clear, we want to compete at the world championships, and I think that is a possibility.” He added

In 2015, Rwanda hosted this particular competition and eventually won it in the women category becoming the first African country to qualify for the Paralympics games.
