Junior Wasps head coach Vincent Mashami believes his young guns are in good shape ahead of the first leg of the 2019 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Kenya that will take place on Sunday in Machakos county in Kenya.

The team departed for Kenya yesterday morning and held a light training session at the Machakos stadium and are expected to train again this afternoon.

"The warm up games against Azam Rwanda Premier League sides Kiyovu and Police football clubs gave the players a good test of what they will come up against in the game. They played good organised football, produced many goal scoring chances and if they can retain this approach, then we will have a good game against Kenya,” said Mashami.

The winner between Rwanda and Kenya will face defending champions Zambia in the second round slated for May 11 and May 13.

The final qualifying round will be staged in July with the winners earning slots to next year’s Africa U-20 Cup of Nations finals tournament in Niger.

Zambia won the 2017 finals edition staged in Lusaka after a 2-0 victory over Senegal in the final game.
