The General Assembly of the National Consultative Forum of Political Organisations (NFPO) has re-elected Oswald Burasanzwe for another three-year term as the executive secretary of the forum.

Elizabeth Mukamana,  from Party for Progress and Concord (PPC), is the forum’s new spokesperson, while Theogene Munyangeyo from Liberal Party (PL) is the deputy spokesperson.

Also elected were commissioners in the standing committees of ethics and conflict resolution, programmes and partnership, communication and political dialogues.

The political parties’ forum in Rwanda brings together 11 parties.

"We will put more efforts in all activities planned by the forum,  such as  commemoration of Genocide against the Tutsi to start on April 7, 2018. We urge  all political parties to better organise themselves so that they can play a bigger role in the smooth running of the commemoration activities by urging all their members to actively participate in planned events,” Mukamana said after the elections.

She said more efforts would be put in training political party members and building the capacity.

"Capacity building in this year is highly needed because we are approaching parliamentary elections. We will continue to partner with various institutions to strengthen national goals through cohesion and consensus so that the country remains stable and united,” she said.
