Kigali Golf Club (KGC) is set to host American professional golfer Betsy King, it has be established.

King, a former US Open champion and the leading money winner on the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) tour in 1984, 1989 and 1993, will be accompanied with three other ex-professional lady golfers Katherine Hull, Wendy Posillico and Renee Powell one of America’s recognized professional golf teachers.

According Ezra Bunyenyezi the president of Kigali Golf Club, the LPGA golfers will set foot in Rwanda by the 12th of this month for a charity tour and will conduct free clinics to around 40 Rwandan junior golfers and thereafter meet with the first lady Jeannette Kagame.
 
Bunyenyezi said that this would turn out to be a great opportunity for the youth to meet some great women golfers and learn new tips.

"There will be two teaching pro’s on the trip, Renee Powell and Wendy Posillico,” Bunyenyezi said. 

Betsy King professional career goes as far as finishing in the top ten on the money list every year from 1984 to 1995 and again in 1997. She won 34 titles on the tour, including six major championships.

She played for the United States in the prestigious Solheim Cup five times and was the captain of the 2007 United States team.

She led the team to a 16-12 win over Europe in the 2007 Solheim Cup held in Halmstad, Sweden between 14 and 16 September 2007.

Notably, she is the last American to date to be the leading money winner on the LPGA Tour and her name is place in the LPGA Hall of Fame and the World Golf Hall of Fame.  Katherine Hull on the hand has played on the LPGA tour since 2004.

Her best finish is 2nd at the Canadian Women’s Open.  Prior to joining the LPGA, she won two events on the Australian Ladies Professional Golfers Tour.  

Renee Powell the most veteran of the group played on the LPGA tour from 1967 to 1981.   Her father built Clearview Golf Club in 1946.  It is the only golf course in the Unites States designed, built, owned and operated by an African American.
