German artist Christian Peter spent six weeks in Kigali, during which time he participated in an exchange programme with Rwandan artists in a dialogue on different experiences and working techniques.
On March 7, Peter also collaborated with the Kigali Centre For Photography in a project that introduced local photographers to the vintage Polaroid SX-70 instant film camera.
The collaborations were done in partnership with the Goethe Institut Kigali and Partnership Jumelage Rhineland-Palatinate Rwanda.
Peter is part of the artist exchange programme of the Partnership Jumelage Rhineland Rwanda, which was established in 2015.
Together with the Rwandan artists, he developed multi-disciplinary works of art, which were presented in a joint exhibition at the Goethe Intitut in Kigali Friday night. These were interspersed with works he developed previously while in Germany.
Some of the exhibiting art houses were; Ivuka Arts and Kuuru Art Space, while exhibiting artists included Tabaro Poupoute, Munezero JMV, Pamela Ange Gahonzire, Nizeyimana Patrick, Ganda, Mugisha Philipe, and Niyonkuru Bruce.
The night was also spiced up by a short poetry performance by poetess Natacha Muziramakenga.
