Gisagara enter camp ahead of African Club Championships

Gisagara Volleyball Club have entered residential training camp at Centre Christus Motel in Remera to prepare the forthcoming Men’s African Club Championships which will be held from March 27 to April 5 in Cairo, Egypt.

Gisagara Volleyball Club have entered residential training camp at Centre Christus Motel in Remera to prepare the forthcoming Men’s African Club Championships which will be held from March 27 to April 5 in Cairo, Egypt.

According to head coach, Fidele Nyirimana, the team will be holding double training sessions at Amahoro Indoor Stadium until Saturday, a day before departing for Cairo.

Nyirimana vowed, "We want to be Cairo to represent Rwanda as competitors and not mere participants.”

"It’s the first time Gisagara will be participating in the African Club Championships but we will go in the tournament hoping to do well as well as gain more experience,” former Rayon Sports and Kirehe VC coach, Nyirimana noted.

He added that, "Obviously we know it will not be easy for us especially being our first time to compete at this level but we will try and give our very best because we have some players with experience in international competitions.”

Gisagara’s seasoned players include; Christopher Mukunzi (national team captain) and Placide Madison Sibomana, who also plays for the national team.Sibomana has also played in the Qatari league as well as Nelson Murangwa.

Al Ahly SC of Egypt are the Men’s African Club Championships defending champions.
