Azam Rwanda Premier League title contenders APR FC will today face Espoir in a rescheduled match at Kigali Stadium seeking to move into fifth place on league table standings.

The match day 15 tie had been postponed because APR were at the time preparing for their CAF Confederation Cup match against Djoliba AC de Bamako of Mali a fortnight ago.

The military side beat Djoliba 2-1 in their second-leg of Confed Cup first round on Saturday at Amahoro National Stadium in Kigali but crashed out of the competition as they needed an extra goal to overcome their opponents’ away goal advantage. The two-legged tie ended 2-2 goal aggregate.

APR have now turned their focus of domestic league.

"We need to win this game as we want to stay in title race. Our players know very well that a win on Wednesday will give us a great deal of confidence going into the next fixtures,” said head coach Ljubomir Petrovic.

The win for APR will see them move into fifth, up from seventh, on the table with 24 points, four behind leaders AS Kigali, the former still with two games in hand – against Etincelles (scheduled for Sunday) and Gicumbi (due March 28).

If APR manage to win all their games in hand they storm the league’s summit with 30 points.

On Monday, defending champions Rayon Sports will visit Sunrise at Nyagatare.

SC Kiyovu are in second spot, Rayon Sports in fourth, Sunrise in fifth, Police in sixth, and then APR, who have the same number of points as Etincelles.
