RRA face Bafia at Africa Club Championships

Rwanda Revenue Authority beat Shams of Egypt on Tuesday to set up a meeting with Cameroon’s Bafia in the 5th place playoff at the 2018 Africa Women Volleyball Club Championships on Thursday in Cairo.

Rwanda Revenue Authority beat Shams of Egypt on Tuesday to set up a meeting with Cameroon’s Bafia in the 5th place playoff at the 2018 Africa Women Volleyball Club Championships on Thursday in Cairo.

RRA, under Kenyan coach Dorcus Ndasaba, beat Shams 3-0 (31-29, 25-23, and 29-27). Shams face Customs of Nigeria in battle for seventh place. Pipeline of Kenya lost to Ahly of Egypt 3-1 and will now face domestic rivals Kenya Prisons in the battle for third place.

Prisons were beaten by defending champions Carthage of Tunisia 3-1 in semi-finals, while Ahly defeated Pipeline 3-1 in the other semi-final. Carthage and Ahly face off in the final on Thursday.

In the play off for 5 to 8 places, Bafia recovered from their 3-2 quarterfinals defeat against Pipeline to beat Ccustoms 3-1 (25-21, 21-25, 25-23, 25-22).

In play off, 9 to 12, Nkumba University beat fellow Ugandan side Vision 3-0 (25-20, 25-14, 25 -10), while INJS beat Chlef 3-0 (25-17, 25-22, 25-14). In 13 to 16 play offs, Harare City of Zimbabwe were 3-0 (25-23, 25-16, 25-22) winners against Asec Mimosas from Core d’Ivoire.

Nyong overcame FAP 3-1 (28-26, 25-14, 23-25, 25-21) in an all Cameroonian affair. DGSP of Congo beat Burkina Faso’s Douanes 3-1 (18-25, 28-26, 25-14, 25 -20) to finish on 17th position whiles Douanes finished last at position 18.
