Third-placed Rayon Sports will face Marines in the Azam Rwanda Premier League on Sunday at Kigali Stadium in Nyamirambo seeking to win and go top of the league standing.

The defending champions return to local action after drawing 0-0 against Mamelodi Sundowns from South Africa in the first-leg of CAF Champions League’s first round.

Ivan Minnaert’s team are third in the table with 24 points from 13 matches, two points behind leaders AS Kigali, who take on Musanze FC on Monday.

SC Kiyovu, who play against Amagaju on Sunday, are second with 25 points, while Sunrise FC, who visit Miroplast, complete the top four. Rayon Sports’ opponents, Marines FC, are in 10thplace with 17 points.

Victory for Rayon Sports will see them move one point above AS Kigali at the top of the table before travelling to South Africa for the second leg match against Mamelodi Sundowns scheduled for March 18.

Meanwhile, in case Rayon failed to get all three points and SC Kiyovu beat 12th-placed Amagaju FC at Mumena stadium, Andre Casa Mbungo will regain top spot where they had been for most part of the league first round until losing it two weeks ago.

Casa Mbungo says his team is focussed on getting "three important points” match against Amagaju, "We want to start the game on a high level with pressing and looking for an early goal, but at the same time we have to defend well because we know the quality of the opponent, they can hurt you.”

However, the former AS Kigali and Police FC tactician will be without key defender Ally Mbogo, who is suspended for the game.

Hiw counterpart of Amagaju FC, Pabro Nduwimana said: "It is hard to say that you will beat a big team like SC Kiyovu but we want a good performance, we need to be better at the back and make sure we don’t gift them goals. If we manage to defend well, it will be easier for us to get something.”

Elsewhere, Innocent Seninga’s fifth-placed Police FC will be seeking to bounce from last week’s 1-0 home defeat against Bugesera FC, when they visit Kirehe FC at Nyakarambi ground. Kirehe are struggling in 14th place with 12 points, level with Mirolplast in 15th place.
