StarTimes Basketball National League reigning champions Rwanda Energy Group (REG) will be hoping for nothing less than victory when they host rivals IPRC-South on Saturday evening at Amahoro Indoor Stadium. The game kicks off at 7pm.

Enjoying their second season in the national championship, second-placed REG are looking to narrow three-point gap between them and leaders Patriots, who have played one game.

Cyrille Kalima’s team are bidding to retain the regular season league title they clinched on their first attempt.

"This is a stage in the league where we can’t afford to underrate any opponent; every win means a lot in the title race. We have to win all our remaining games in order to retain the title,” said Kalima.

He warned his stars not lose focus, "They must understand that they need to work hard individually and collectively towards our common goal.”

Center Kami Kabange, point-guard Ali Kazingufu Kubwimana, power-forward Olivier Shyaka, shooting-guard Chris Walter Nkurunziza and guard Bienvenu Ngandu will lead REG against Charles Mushumba’s side whose charge will be led by Bienvenu Niyonsaba and Fabrice Rukundo.

The Huye-based side are fourth in the league table with 11 points, having recorded four wins and three defeats.
