APR beat Al Arabi in last BAL warmup game in Qatar

APR 100- 65 Al Arabi

APR Basketball club finished their buildup games in Doha, Qatar, unbeaten as they wind up their 10-day training camp preparing for the Basketball Africa League (BAL) 2024.

Mazen Trakh’s side, on Wednesday, February 28, beat Qatari side Al Arabi 100-65 at Al Gharafa Indoor Hall in what was their last warmup game on the list.

The team, led by Michael Dixon, Adonis Filer, Jean Jacques Nshobozwabyosenumukiza and Ntore Habimana looked too supercharged for Al Arabi to deal with from the very first quarter which the army side won 30-15 before the pair finished the second quarter tied on16-16, leaving APR leading the game 46-31 at the break.

Returning for the second half, APR continued to show energy, taking the third quarter 34-16 and the last quarter 20-18 to take home the victory, their fifth in as many games played in Qatar.

APR haven’t lost a single game in their last outings player during their training camp, having beaten Qatari champions Al Rayyan twice (84-77 & 99-79) in their second and fourth warmup games.

They also beat Al Wakrah (108-88 & 110-77) in the opening and third warmup games.

The team returns to Kigali on Thursday, February 29.

APR will for the first time be participating in BAL, an elite African basketball club competition backed by the NBA.

They are pooled in the Sahara Conference which will stage from May 4-12 in Dakar, Senegal. The conference also comprises Tunisia’s US Monastir, AS Douanes of Senegal and Nigerian Champions Rivers Hoopers.
