French tennis icon Yannick Noah has arrived in Rwanda where he is an honorary guest for the ATP Challenger 50 Tour which is underway in Kigali.

Yannick, who also doubles as a musician is among the high profile personalities who are gracing the ATP Challenger 50 Tour at the IPRC Ecological Tennis Club in Kicukiro.

The former French captain who led his team to win the 1991 Davis Cup says he is coming to offer the needed morale booster to the kids who are competing as they begin a pathway to success in the sport.

The president of Rwanda Tennis Federation invited me a few weeks ago. I look forward to it, I haven&039;t seen many challenges lately but I am very happy the Tennis Federation in Rwanda put together this tournament." Yannick told the press upon his arrival at the Kigali International Airport.

"Now, there are many young talents and is good to have some local tournaments. I am here to encourage the president and see the level of play."

Yannick further mentioned that his son Joakim, a basketball player who has been in Kigali a couple of times told him about the country.

" I look forward to the few days here, my son talked to me about Kigali, he has been here so many times. It was a good trip but it was long, from Yaounde to Addis Ababa before reaching here," he added.

The ATP Challenger Tour which began in Kigali on February 26 will end on March 10 with various participants vying for honors in Tennis.
