Editor,

RE: "Misogynic pastor should be pursued for hate crime” (The New Times, February 8).

"Incitement and hate speech is a serious crime and this country knows the dark side of hate speech and the consequences we still feel to this day.”

We also know the role the Christian clergy, up to the highest level, played in sowing the seeds of genocide, in nourishing the ideology through the first pogroms in 1959 to its fruition in the "Final Solution” for the Tutsi in 1994.

Nothing is more poisonous than religion turned rancid. We in Rwanda have ample and bitter experience of how deadly venomous that can be.
