Rayon Sports edge Musanze in five-goal thriller

Rayon Sports 3-2 Musanze

DEFENDING CHAMPIONS, Rayon Sports beat Musanze FC 3-2 at Kigali Stadium, Nyamirambo, yesterday. The win saw Rayon move to the third position on the league table.

Former Amavubi, Rayon Sports and APR striker, Bokota Kamana Labama netted the opening goal for Musanze in the fifth minute after eliminating Rayon Sports defenders.

Forward, Djabel Manishimwe put Rayon Sports on level in the tenth minute before Pierrot Kwizera put the hosts ahead in the 25th minute.

Rayon Sports went for recess leading but in the 58th minute, Frank Birirengako scored the equalizer for Musanze before Burundian international Kwizera netted his second and winning goal for Rayon Sports in the 90+3 minute after a good rebound from Ismailla Diarra.

Olivier Karekezi’s team jumped to third position with 18 points after ten games, same points as second placed AS Kigali while Musanze remained in 14th place with 9 points. SC Kiyovu is leading the standings with 20 points while sixteen time league champions, APR dropped to fourth place with 17 points.

League action will continue on Saturday with AS Kigali facing Kirehe at Kigali Stadium while Musanze will play Gicumbi at Ubworoherane Stadium; Marines will face Police at Umuganda Stadium as Amagaju meet Espoir at Nyagisenyi.
