Listening well helps you do well socially and academically. /Dennis Agaba..

You remember that one thing that your elders always tell you not to do or ever try? However, with our stubbornness we often go against their warnings and get ourselves in trouble.

This reminds me of a story I recently read about the puppy that let curiosity lead it to trouble. As children, I believe we have a lot to learn from this story.

"Don’t go near the well! Don’t play round it!” Mother Dog said to her children. And they never went to the well. But once, a little puppy ran to the well and stopped there. He thought to himself, "Why can’t we go to the well?” Then the puppy jumped onto the wall to look into it. As he looked inside, he saw another puppy. The puppy wagged its tail and the puppy on the well did the same thing. Then the puppy held his paws up and the other did the same.

The puppy became angry with the puppy in the well. He wanted to fight with him, so he jumped into the well. But there was no puppy to fight with, only water. He cried for help but no one came to the well. He went down into the cold water and nobody saw him again.

Moral of the story: Always listen to what your elders say. They have seen a lot that we children are yet to experience. Their guidance and advice is what keeps us upright.
