Export revenues from eggs surged to $4.94 million (about Rwf424.8 million) in the first 11 months of 2017, up by a massive 187 per cent or $1.72 million from $3.21 million recorded the previous year.

According to National Agricultural Export Board (NAEB) report for November 2017, 99.42 per cent of eggs went to DR Congo and Burundi took 0.58 per cent.

Meanwhile, fish export earnings jumped 16 per cent to $18.14 million (about Rwf15.6 billion) between January and November 30, 2017, up from $15.66 million generated during the same period in 2016.

This represents an increase of $2.48 million in value terms. The report indicates that about 99.55 per cent of fish went to DR Congo, while the rest was exported to Burundi and Uganda, respectively.

However, this is mostly re-exports as "big quantities of fish come from Uganda and Tanzania” and were then shipped to the DR Congo, the monthly report added.
