After six league games without a single win, Rusizi BC will be hoping to pick their maiden win against seven-time national basketball league champions APR on Saturday at GS Gihundwe court in Rusizi district.

However, Aime Karim Nkusi’s side will find an uphill task to beat APR, which has won four and lost only two games. APR goes into the game in fourth position and will be eyeing to improve their win ratio to 5:2. This would present the best win ratio by any club this season apart from league leaders Patriots (6:1).

Nkusi said the three-time FIBA Africa Zone 5 regional champions, APR, are focused on getting the job done in Rusizi, "We are ready for the weekend game, all the players are fit for the game.”

"We must be fully focused and avoid any form of complacency, we must take the opponent very seriously regardless of their league position,” noted Nkusi, who is in his first season as APR head coach, having taken over from long-serving Kenyan, Cliff Owuor.

Regarding his team’s league title aspirations, former Rwanda international, Nkusi said, "Absolutely, we’re very much in the race. We will fight till the end.”
