The new signings include; Yves Umuhire from archrivals Police, Elysée Muhumure from College Inyemeramihigo, Jean Claude Hakizimana from Ecole Scolaire Kigoma and Andrew Akayezu from Ecole Scolaire Urumuri, all on a two year deal, according head coach Anaclet Bagirishya.

"We have signed these players in a bid to boost our squad strength. They are good players and I hope they will be of great value in the upcoming busy season,” said Bagirishya on Wednesday.

As part of their pre-season training, APR played a friendly match against ADEGI-Gituza on Sunday at Amahoro National Stadium, which they won 35-30 and the coach says they will arrange more friendlies before the league starts.

APR won last year’s league title for the first time in eight years and went on to participate in the African Handball Champions League tournament in Hammamet, Tunisia where they finished bottom without winning a single game.  APR are also the Heroes’ Day Handball tournament defending champions.
