Zonic Tigers on Sunday, October 2, beat Kigali Cricket Club (KCC) by 58 runs in the final to win the 2022 Dafabet RCA T20 tournament.

Tigers’ Wilson Niyitanga put in a man-of-the-match performance as he contributed 88 runs to inspire his side to the title glory, their first since the club inception in 2017.

KCC won the toss and chose to bowl first giving Tigers to bat in the first innings and went on to register 164 runs.

With their usual confidence and mastery in the cricket game, KCC players thought they had come to the final to pick up their trophy but it wasn’t their day when eight of their players were eliminated before the team even reached a century of runs, hence finding it hard to chase the 164 runs set up by Tigers.

"This is a team that comprises only homegrown players that contribute to the national teams. It's been there for the past five years and I am proud of what the club is achieving with these incredible raw talents. So far so good and the future is bright," said club president Eddie Balaba Mugarura after his boys claimed the title.

The Champions were awarded a cash prize worth Rwf1 million while the runners-up walked away with Rwf500,000.

Individual prizes:

MVP: Hamuza Khan (KCC)

Best batter: Hamuza Khan (KCC)

Best bowler: Martin Akayezu (Zonic Tigers)

Best Fielder aba David Uwimana (Zonic Tigers)
