Rwanda Premier League side AS Kigali have signed former Rayon Sports midfielder Faudi Ndayisenga on a two-year contract, according to head coach Eric Nshimiyimana.

The Burundi international has previously played for the top clubs in Rwanda, including APR FC, which he joined in 2008 until 2009, before crossing over SC Kiyovu for two seasons, then to Rayon Sports, from 2011 to 2015.

Ndayisenga, 28, has been training with AS Kigali since October last year.

"Ndayisenga has been training with us for the last three months and we decided to give him a contract after impressing and proving that he can still cut it at the top level,” Nshimiyimana told Times Sport on Sunday.

He added: "He is a full Burundi international with lots of experience in the national championship having featured for the likes of APR, Kiyovu and Rayon Sports; we hope that his experience will be handy in achieving our aspirations for the season.”

Nshimiyimana, whose team resumed training on January 3 after the festive holidays, have also promoted youngster Fred Muhozi from the academy side.

Ndayisenga left Rayon Sports in 2016 to join Kenyan side Sofapaka FC where he spent one season before going to SC Villa in Uganda for trials but failed to get a contract there.

AS Kigali are second in the Azam Rwanda Premier League with 18 points, two behind leaders SC Kiyovu after ten rounds of matches played so far.
